Only in the spirit of love and respect can we look at the whole person and work with them to express and exchange views on actions, words and behaviors that offend us. In doing so, we not only allow others to understand our viewpoints, but gain knowledge of their perspectives and accordingly are more easily able to enter a dialogue that brings not only grievances to light, but the associated falsehoods that keep those grievances in place.
How Can Two People Have Two Equally Valid True's?
When watching a news cast or reading an internet site, what we believe to be true or not is based on our own thinking, associations and biases about the topic being analyzed. News media often plays on our biases and assumptions to elicit a particular response, often along political party lines, and it is up to each of us to challenge our assumptions and biases to arrive at our own true. We each have the ability to make our own assessments and conclusions rather than letting our automatic and most often unconscious thoughts, associations and biases determine our conclusions.
9 Simple Ways to Manage Your Energy in the Moment
Breaking the loop or pattern is key to managing your energy and continuing to resonate at higher energy levels, thereby attracting higher energy people, places and things into your life. To maintain higher levels of energy or move yourself out of victim energy, practice these 9 simple in-the-moment steps.
To Control Your Life, Control What You Pay Attention To
Your attention determines the experiences you have, and the experiences you have determine the life you live. Rather than allowing distractions to derail you, choose where you direct your attention at any given moment, based on an understanding of your priorities and goals. To do this, you need to control external factors like technology (turn off that phone!) and the environment (keep those interrupting colleagues away!). But you also need to learn to control internal factors, like your own behavior and thoughts. Learning to practice attention management won’t eliminate all distractions from your day, but it will give you more control over how you spend your time — and your life.
Persuading the Unpersuadable
The Power of Teams at Work: A good team makes all the difference in performance and engagement.
People. Connection. Teams. The most powerful factor in predicting engagement and productivity is simply whether or not respondents reported doing most of their work on a team. Those who did were more than twice as likely to be fully engaged as those who said they did most of their work alone. The quality of this team experience is the quality of your work experience.
Your experience of your team drives many things: how productive you are at work; how happy you are at work; how creative, innovative, and resilient you are; and how long you choose to stay with your company. In other words, when it comes to your work, great teams and teamwork aren’t a nice-to-have; they’re a must-have.
True Intimacy in a Relationship
This short YouTube video by Rupert Spira discusses having a truly intimate relationship. How wonderful intimate relationships are to share and express ourselves with one another when we each enter the relationship knowing that our happiness is derived not from our partner, but from within our own selves. A relationship offers a chance for true intimacy rather than being a battleground of two egos seeking fulfillment.
Your Thinking Impacts Not Only Your Happiness, but Your Health.
When we think positive thoughts or experience things of beauty, like sunrises and sunsets, or the hug of a friend or family member, our mind signals our body to create good chemicals like endorphins (euphoria and determination), oxytocin (trust and belonging), serotonin (safety and respect) and dopamine (motivation). It also causes the body to release more IgA which is a chemical that supports our immune system. Therefore positive thinking results not only in feeling good, but supports your overall health. To the contrary, when we are under stress, whatever the source, our body releases cortisol, which supports getting the body back to a state of rest, but over the long term wears the body down.
Want to be happier and have better health? It’s as simple as changing the way you think. That’s the power of positive thinking. It’s not ignoring problems, its acknowledging them and focusing on how to work through them, not on the problems themselves. It’s focusing on what is right with things in general, not what is wrong. We are blessed and can be grateful for many many things in our lives.
How did lockdown impact your thinking and personality?
How did lockdown change your personality? In large part the impact on our personality is dependent on how we experienced lockdown, covid and the related effects and whether we see a chance for growth or just threats to our lives. I'm ready for this pandemic, lockdown and economic crisis to be over, but I'm glad to look at my thoughts and behaviors during this time and see what I can learn about myself.
