Definition of Energy
Energy coaching is built on the foundation of personal core energy, or the energy that is at the core of thoughts, emotions and actions that relate to how people see themselves, others and the world around them. A person’s core energy has a tremendous influence on performance in all aspects of life. Core energy is influenced by internal and external factors. There are two types of energy - catabolic (destructive and draining) and anabolic (constructive and healing) energy. Both types of energies are valuable and applicable in certain areas of life.
Anabolic Energy
Anabolic describes energy that is constructive, expanding, fueling, healing and growth-oriented. This energy is behind everything from creativity and intuition to compassion and caring. Anabolic energy fuels your body, your perceptions and your interactions and helps you move forward and achieve powerful, sustainable results. Anabolic energy is the cornerstone of high performance.
Catabolic Energy
Catabolic energy is draining, resisting and contracting energy. While catabolic energy provides you with an energetic boost to combat what you perceive to be a stressful situation, it is distracting and acts like a blinder though which you only see a limited view of a situation, thus reducing the choices available to you. Through it may be useful in the short term when chosen consciously, when used on a long term basis or unconsciously, it imparts mental, emotional and physical tolls that are potentially destructive to you and all those around you. As a short term survival/coping mechanism, catabolic energy can work well.
